BAD FACES OF INDONESIA EDUCATION

To become a developed nation is certainly a goal to be achieved by every country in the world. One of the factors that support the advancement is education. Once the importance of education, so that a nation can be measured if the nation forward or backward, because education is the next generation printing process. If the output of this education process fails, it is difficult to imagine how to achieve progress. For a people who want to progress, educators should be viewed as a necessity as well as other necessities. Such as food, clothing, and shelter, however,We are very sad to see the condition of education in Indonesia today.
When viewed in terms of the quality of our education, according to research by Human Development Index (HDI) in 2004, Indonesia was ranked 111 out of 175 countries. Likewise by Asia Week magazine who conducted research on best university in Asia, the magazine is mentioned that none of Universities in Indonesia included in the Top 20. UI is ranked 61 for a multidisciplinary university category, UGM ranked 68, UNDIP rated 77, Airlangga University ranked 75, while ITB rated 21 for university science and technology, less than the national university of science and technology in Pakistan. Also seen from the personality of our student behavior, not the least of them the brawl between schools or between universities, drug abuse, promiscuity, or their behavior that have been classified in criminal activity.
Here's the ugly face of our education, at least when we look there are two factors affecting the failure of education in force in Indonesia. First, the paradigm of national education. Second, the high cost of education. Moreover, the current size of graduate students only judged from the National Examination (UN) alone, which means that learners master the material is only intended to be without spiritual value. On the other hand, those who study in religious education is to master the science of religion and personality are relatively good, but not the least among those who are blind to the progress of science and technology. Finally, the modern sectors such as trade, industry, services and other relative be filled by someone who lay against religion.
Therefore, it’s need for solving problems in basic education  to make overall improvements ranging from changing the paradigm of national education that separated general education with religious education, making the role of religion as basic in the education process. Religious education is not only given once a week but also must be the basis or foundation for other subjects, so that will give birth to learners who not only master the science and technology but also has good morals. It is also to address the commercialization of education is needed in this case the role of the state government to conduct a systematic effort to change the paradigm of commercial education by providing facilities and adequate educational facilities, high quality, at a cost that can be affordable by all levels of society without any distinction based on the quality education is determined by how much education costs incurred. The role of the government is actually as part of service to the community in terms of achieving national goals of the intellectual life of the nation. Thus, the change will give birth so that qualified students are able to hold his role as the future generation that will lead to progress.
